I have partially figured out some of the form I have for entry but I do not know what class to put as I am a complete novice. I also am wondering what the process is: when do I bring my birds in? Do they have to stay overnight? Can I bring them the morning before official judging? If I have some things to sell but do not require an entire table? Thanks in advance for any help for the newbie 😀 Like 2 comments 2 Forum - Frameless

- Leg Bands | Northern Alberta Cage Bird Association | Edmonton
Leg Bands What Are They? Leg bands or rings help keepers, breeders, and fanciers to identify a bird, its origin, and history. Quite a bit like the tags on a dog’s collar. Bands are typically placed on the bird’s leg at around one week, but it depends on the species. Closed rings are year dated, numbered, and have letter size, and AAC on them. Coded rings are made with individual initials or aviary codes. These can be up to three or four in character length on the larger sizes, and two to three letters on the smaller sizes. Band colours differ for each year. COM Colours 2025 – Black 2024 – Red 2023 – Blue 2022 – Brown 2021 – Violet 2020 – Green 2019 – Black 2018 – Red 2017 – Silver 2016 – Blue 2015 – Red 2014 – Green 2013 – Purple 2012 – Orange 2011 – Silver 2010 – Blue Band Types Our rings come in a variety of materials and three main types. Closed We order our AACC Closed year as dated anodized aluminum rings in sizes A to Y. Aluminum ring sizes A to S are available in sets of ten. Sizes T to Y are considered parrot sizes, and can be ordered individually in either aluminum or steel. Closed rings are year dated, numbered, and have letter, size, and AAC on them. Bands are typically placed on the bird’s leg at around one week, but it depends on the species. Split Aluminum Split rings are numbered, aluminum color with black lettering only. and no choice of numbers. No tool required. One can order coded aluminum Split rings on the Closed ring page with your code and number on them. Plastic Split rings in different colors are also available. Sizes range from XF to X3, and come plain or numbered in sets of ten. Sizes 1FB and 2FB do not require a tool to apply. An application tool is required for sizes from XF to X3, and is supplied at no charge when requested with your order. Coded Bands Coded rings are made with individual initials or aviary codes. These can be up to three or four in character length on the larger sizes, and two to three letters on the smaller sizes. Keep in mind that these bands are customized specifically for the customer, and take a little longer to be received from our supplier- roughly eight weeks. Coded rings do not have letter size imprinted. Registration of each code must be paid yearly ($5). All codes must be approved by the Ring Registrar, as the AACC carries over 400 codes and each one must be individual. Parrot size coded bands are available in aluminum or steel, with a minimum order of five bands. To order bands, you must be an official NACBA member for the year of band issue. So if you order in 2023 for 2024 bands, your 2024 membership must be paid before bands are released to you. Order Bands Become A Member

- About | Northern Alberta Cage Bird Association | Edmonton
About The Club What We're About The Northern Alberta Cage Bird Association is a club whose members have an interest in all varieties of cage birds. The club operates in the greater Edmonton area but also serves members from across Alberta and western Canada. As hobbyists and fanciers, we want to share our interests with others and educate people about the husbandry and breeding of cage birds. We have been very successful in doing so through regular monthly meetings, summer baby shows, and annual fall shows. We also publish a newsletter to keep in touch with our out-of-town members and keep everyone informed of the clubs activities. Executive Team This is our executive team, always working towards club improvement, setting up expos, and facilitating meets for our wonderful members! President vacant Interim President, Social Convenor Carol Editor, Secretary Theresa Treasurer Jean Bands & Membership Bev Show Manager Hilal History After an initial re-evaluation, it was time to put the ‘A’ back in ‘aviculture’ and bring breeding birds to the forefront of our club. As hobbyists and fanciers, we wanted to share our interests with others and educate the public and members in keeping and breeding cage birds. We have been very successful in doing so through regular monthly meetings, summer baby shows, and annual fall shows. We also publish a newsletter to keep in touch with our out of town members and keep everyone informed of the clubs activities The newsletter started out at a twice yearly printing in 1995, then progressed to 10 issues per year. It is now sent out via email to all paid members. We held our first public exhibition in West Edmonton Mall in 1996 together with the Edmonton Pet Parrot Club. After building our membership base a little, we decided to start holding annual fall shows. We base the criteria for showing and judging the birds on the standards set in the United Kingdom as recommended by the AACC, which itself was based on UK criteria. In 1999 we held our first annual show as well as hosting the Western Canadian Canary Classic. This got us through the starting gates and we haven’t looked back since. Due to a change in government regulation, the club had a name change in 2014, and is now referred to as an Association instead of a Society.
